Jung Helpdesk · iPhone app

Privacy Policy

The short version: everything about your listening stays on your iPhone. The app has no accounts, no advertising and no tracking. A few anonymous counts reach us so we can see which topics people care about — nothing that identifies you.

Effective 14 September 2026 · applies to the Jung Helpdesk app for iOS

Who we are

The Jung Helpdesk app is a companion to the C.G. Jung Helpdesk podcast and is published by the podcast's makers. For anything about this policy, write to jung-helpdesk@mail.de.

What stays on your phone

The app keeps the following only in its own storage on your device. It is never uploaded anywhere by the app.

Deleting the app deletes all of it. There is no cloud copy. If you want to keep your progress across phones, use Settings → Your data → Save a copy: it writes a file you own, to Files, iCloud Drive, AirDrop or mail — wherever you send it. We never see that file.

What leaves your phone

1. Fetching the podcast itself

Like every podcast app, this one downloads the feed, the audio and the transcripts from where the podcast hosts them. Those servers see your IP address and the app's name, the same as when you stream in any player.

Amazon S3The transcript files RedCircle publishesAmazon Web Services
GitHubThe app's small topic catalog and its transcript word-fix listGitHub, Inc.

None of these requests carry anything about you beyond the connection itself. The app sends no account, no name and no device identifier.

2. Anonymous usage signals

To learn which topics and episodes matter to listeners, the app sends a handful of anonymous events to TelemetryDeck, an analytics service based in Germany that is built around not identifying people (their policy). Each event carries a hashed, salted identifier that cannot be turned back into your device or you. We cannot look up an individual person, and neither can TelemetryDeck.

The complete list of what is sent:

That is everything. Not your listening positions, not your likes, not your downloads, not the time of day, not your location.

3. Notifications

If you turn on new-episode notifications, iOS wakes the app now and then, the app checks the feed itself and shows a local notification. There is no push server and no token sent anywhere. You can switch it off in the app or in iOS Settings at any time.

4. Crash reports

The app uses no crash-reporting service. If you have allowed Apple to share diagnostics with developers, Apple may pass us anonymised crash logs under Apple's own terms.

What we don't do

Legal basis and retention

Where the GDPR applies, the anonymous usage signals rest on our legitimate interest in understanding how the app and podcast are used (Art. 6(1)(f)). Because the signals cannot be tied to a person, they are not personal data in our hands once received; TelemetryDeck keeps them in aggregated form. Everything else stays on your device for as long as you keep the app.

Changes

If the app ever starts collecting something new, this page changes first and the date at the top moves. The current app never sends more than what is listed here.
